Internal Employee Communication Strategy & Delivery

The Objective

To conduct research and gather insights to develop an informed 5 year communications strategy. Key objectives included understanding organisational objectives, the current and desired employee communications experience, employee and stakeholder communication needs, and identify strategic opportunities for improvement.

The Process

Discovery / Research

The Discovery/Research phase was critical to develop a successful internal communications strategy as we know connection between employees and an organisation is meaningful when it is built with intent, insight and authenticity.

For the project, Corporate Crayon built on our existing knowledge of the PBV workforce and culture with an immersive research trip. This included engagement with all levels of the organisation to gather quantitative data and insights, supplemented by facility and field visits to gain first-hand experience of the work environment and culture. This included:

  • Facilitated Executive Leadership Session to explore and validate the company vision, objectives, employer brand differentiation and role of communications to deliver the high-performing culture into the future

  • Key Business Stakeholder Meetings to understand their roles, priority and objectives; and how corporate communications could better support them, their teams and their stakeholders

  • Employee Focus Groups to gain insights into the current and desired employee communications experience and identify key areas to improve. The focus groups were conducted at multiple facilities with a selected representative sample of front-line employees and managers, to ensure we gained an authentic view of the employee experience across PBV. These were designed to be creative and engaging with a variety of activities to draw out feedback and insights.

  • Research Trip Report with detailed key findings and recommendations

Connection/ Strategy

Informed by the research findings, we developed the proposed 5-year corporate communications strategy. The strategy proposal outlined the key communication objectives and audiences, communication channels, key messaging and content pillars, and recommendations of strategic initative for success.

The Feedback
